Antalya has long been known for its vibrant psytrance culture, but this Saturday will be the first psychedelic party of this year. The Psy-boutique Festival invites JourneyOM as a headliner who promises to shake the city. The “Psychedelic ANKA 01″ will place on January 29 at Larena Beach in Antalya.
Bahar Canca, AslanDJ, and Yejades will also be playing. That’s not all! Also, various led performers will shine at the party. So, save the date, trance people!
Can you tell us something about yourself for our Turkish listeners? We’d like to know more?
Hello there! My name is Giampiero Mastino. I started playing as DJ in 1998 and as a music producer in 2002. I’ve made 5 albums under Journey, Omsphere, and Sonic Wave Control. Not only that, but I have compiled more than 10 Various Artists compilations as JayOM. In 2020, I merged Journey, Omsphere, and JayOM into one: JourneyOM. I’m currently working on my 6th album under the new name.
How did you start producing electronic music?
After DJing for a few years, I found it boring to play the same music all the time and had trouble finding new tunes I liked… So I thought, “I’ll make my own!” I went back to school, did audio engineering and music technology, and then started producing.
The Doors, Pink Floyd…
Who’re your musical influences?
The Doors, Pink Floyd and most of the psychedelic rock bands from the 70s. Electronic wise… Son Kite’s album Colors inspired me as a storyteller and that kind of spherical sound.
Who or what’s the most important factor for the success of your productions?
Knowledge, practice and no shortcuts are my way… I follow my instinct, my feelings, and my passion…then magic happens.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a successful dance/electronic music producer?
Learn the basics from scratch and all the basics of how to form sounds. Besides, practice a lot and never give up.
JourneyOM: “Many unforgettable memories”
What was your most memorable experience, when you were playing?
I’ve fond memories of Playing the first performances at Universo Paralello in Brazil in 2008/2009 and Boom Festival in 2010. South African events like Alien Safari, Vortex, and Origin are also unforgettable.
You’ve a gig in Antalya on January 29. What would you like to say about this event?
I can’t wait to show up in Antalya again!!! It’s going to be a lot of fun.
